Went into this branch today (14th May) at approx 11.30am and was served by a most helpful and pleasant young man. It was a pleasure to come across an individual who is pleased to help and advice a customer. I am not at all surprised that this branch consistently gets 5 star reviews.

This was my 2nd visit to Toolstation.
On the first visit back in October '25 I bought some vital 'just in Case' tools.
A trolley jack rated at 2 tons and a pair of Axle stands, a mains grinder/cutter (ideal for wheel clamp removal lol), and a few consumables.
In the course of servicing my Peugot Boxer camper van (see pictures) I used the jack a couple of times seeking a diesel leak I needed to crawl under with the engine running.
I used the jack to lift the front offside wheel, placed an axle stand and lowered the Wight onto the stand. All good.
Found the leak. Couldn't get to it but at least I now knew where it was.
Fast forward to May 2026 and I'm on the same mission with added removal of knackered Alternator. (It is 40 years old with 49k miles now and it's been charging the main and leisure battery most of that time.
Getting out from under I went to raise the trolley Jack again to remove the axle stand and may have placed unde side stress on the raising handle, being tired, but not excessively and suddenly BANG. I thought I was being shot at again but no, it was the fulcrum point of the jack body exploding in a few parts, dumping the front nearside (1 ton at a guess) slamming into the axle stand that sank 5mm into the car park where I was working.
O dear I thought, that's dissapointing. Bugger. I didn't keep the receipt(s)., oh well, live & learn but I'll take it back anyway in case there's an inherent weakness and it needs addressing.
A couple of days later, having recovered somewhat from my labour's I duly dropped it back to Toolstation at Grantham from where it was bought.
They immediately apologised and insisted on replacing, refunding or substituting a bottle jack.
I was happy to accept a replacement as it's the best tool for the job.
Attached pictures of the broken one.
In my previous professional life I've been a national service manager for a major national telecoms company and it's been my experience that when things go wrong, how the people on the ground deal with it makes the difference between satisfied and loyal customers and disgruntled 'Previous Customers' become a self-feeding virus, attacking the company ethos.
Grantham Staff:- Top Job. 10 out of 10.
I'll be back because Tools make things right, and quality tools last a lifetime. I wouldn't have needed all these tools in the first place if I hadn't given away my (even better) trolley jack and breakdown kit when I was given a fatal diagnosis four years ago. Seems I had more work to do.
Good. I enjoy working to fix things :-)

A very good experience! I did a click and collect and got a text straight away telling me it was ready. Service from Matthew and Fiona today at the Grantham branch was unbeatable, very friendly. The store is still kept extremely professional, even under the restrictions caused by the pandemic. I shop here all the time and never have problems.
